Lighthouse Beach looking towards Tacking Point Lighthouse.
Yes I know, another friggin’ sunrise shot.
Well, if the sun and sky and water stopped looking so damn nice at sunrise,
I wouldn’t feel compelled to take a photo.
You see what I have to put up with? 🙂
Looking South towards Watonga Rocks, Lighthouse Beach at about 6.30am.
Beautiful temperature, crashing waves and a bunch of early risers with smiles on their faces. Nice one!
Hastings River, Port Macquarie.
Nice day to cruise around the wharf looking for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
I wonder if pelicans take pride in the size of their beaks or whether they’re mocked by other bird species at social gatherings…
“Hey pelican! Yeah, you. Your name wouldn’t happen to be ‘Bill’ would it?”
(laughter erupts around the party, led by the Kookaburras)
Camels on Lighthouse Beach, Port Macquarie.
Three interesting facts about camels:
1. Contrary to popular belief, they do not store water in their humps…it’s actually a mound of fatty tissue from which the camel derives energy when food is scarce.
2. They have two sets of eyelashes to protect their eyes from sand and can also close their nostrils to prevent sand from getting up their nose.
3. You can fuel a fire with their poo because it’s so dry!
So there you go. Next time you’re trekking across the Sahara with your camel and you’ve run out of fire starter cubes to get your campfire going, just grab a handful of camel dung!
A front row seat for sunrise over Tacking Point, Port Macquarie.
Well, a front row seat if you turn your head 90 degrees to the right and look East.
‘An aisle seat for sunrise over Tacking Point’ doesn’t quite work as well.
Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned the seat at all.
In fact, the word ‘seat’ has been written too many times in this post already.
Lighthouse: “Ahem, I think I’m a little more impressive than that seat people.”
I named this image “Ghost Walkers”, thinking it was a pretty clever title.
But then I thought, “Do ghosts have feet?”
Don’t they just float around making noises similar to a cow giving birth?
Hmmm…I guess these COULD just be human footprints.
Kinda ruins the theme of the post though. Oh well.
Lighthouse Beach, Port Macquarie
Not sure how I achieved this shot, but let’s just say I meant it 🙂
It kinda looks like the rising sun has been skewered, ready for the BBQ.
Or maybe an alien figure…see the round head on top and the body below?
Or maybe it’s just a sunrise shot that’s gone wrong. Yep, I think that’s it.
Summer sunset over Port Macquarie, Australia.
Nice colours. Nice effect.
I’d like to say I was cooking a BBQ at the time with a beer in my hand,
but the truth is, I quickly snapped this pic in between changing nappies,
bathing kids, and reading books about magic possums and Jiggly Joggly Jelly.
Emerald Downs Golf Course, Port Macquarie.
I love the blue background of this shot.
This guy slept peacefully as we tried to hit a little white ball
into a tiny hole hundreds of metres away.
Somehow, I think he was more satisfied with his morning than we were 🙂
Tacking Point, Port Macquarie.
This shot was taken on the same morning as my previous ‘Shepherd’s Warning’ post.
I’ve done absolutely nothing to the image…no enhancement, no re-touching.
The sky really was that colour at sunrise. I promise.
It literally looked like Tacking Point was a volcano, spewing lava out into the ocean.
Anyway, I’m still blown away by the sunrise that morning, hence your second dose of it! 🙂
